PCS services receive good rating from CQC

We are pleased to confirm that both Buchanan Road Surgery and the PCS Vasectomy Service we provide at Richmond Medical Centre have been rated ‘good’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) following recent inspections.

PCS’ Vasectomy Service attracted particular praise for being a ‘caring’ service, and was rated ‘outstanding’ in this area, with the following highlighted by the inspection team:

  • continually excellent  patient feedback
  • a strong, visible person-centred culture
  • staff who are highly motivated and inspired to offer care that was kind and promoted people’s dignity
  • pro-active use of patient feedback to drive improvements in quality of care and patient experience.

Buchanan Road Surgery is one of seven GP practices managed by Primary Care Sheffield, in partnership with Sheffield Health and Social Care NHS Foundation Trust. The practice is the last in the group to be inspected by CQC, with all seven now holding a ‘good’ rating.

The inspection team highlighted a wide range of areas of good practice at Buchanan Road, including how staff dealt with patients with kindness and respect, effective care and treatment that met patients’ needs and patients kept safe and protected from avoidable harm.

Steven Haigh, Director of Operations and Delivery at Primary Care Sheffield, said: “We are delighted to receive such positive feedback for our services from the Care Quality Commission. The ratings for these and all the services we provide, and the praise from the inspection team demonstrate the dedication and commitment at all levels in the organisation to providing high quality, effective and safe patient-centred services.”
