PCS is commissioned by Sheffield City Council to deliver 7500 NHS Health Checks each year between September and August. Around 6,800 Health Checks had been delivered by provider practices prior to the service being suspended recently due to the pandemic. This suspension pre-empted a decision by the Council to end the year’s activity early due to the likelihood of the target being met sooner than anticipated.
The Council has agreed to extend the contract period until 31 January in the hope that it will be possible to recommence activity prior to then, thereby enabling the 7500 target to be met. While remaining positive, both PCS and the Council are realistic in these expectations and acknowledge that circumstances may prevent this from being achieved.

Following discussion with the commissioner, we have agreed to halt temporarily NHS Health Check activity. The service has been operating well for some time now and will be resumed once routine activity is re-established. Please continue to claim payments for any activity that has been delivered until now via the usual process.
